How to clean your RaySafe 452 Radiation Survey Meter

Frequently, I get asked how to clean a 452. I recommend using a mild detergent and water. So first I grab a paper towel. Just run it under your faucet for a second. Just take some hand soap, and just wipe it off. You can, with the cap on, you can wipe the entire surface. And then you can just, with the cap on, you can just rinse it off. Going to take another paper towel and just wipe it dry. If you want to clean the 452 without the lid, you have to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to take my rag and just wipe around here. I would not clean the G-M pancake tube. And then, instead of running it under water, this is not waterproof, so you cannot run water on the meter itself. I would just wipe it off, grab a dry paper towel, and just wipe it off like this. And there you have it, a clean 452.
